Damien Hirst, Night follows Day
CONSTELLATION
For the first time at Artissima, Constellations, the special section of the Fair devoted to large museum-quality works, will be shown in an exhibition-style. Two international curators, Marc-Olivier Wahler, Director Palais de Tokyo, Paris and Daniel Birnbaum, Director Portikus, Frankfurt, have selected 10 artworks from more than 90 projects submitted by the galleries taking part in the Fair.
TWO-DAY SEMINAR ON CURATORIAL PRACTICES
The conference is organized for Artissima by CuratorLab, which is a traveling research based program for emerging curators organized by Konstfack, Stockholm, and Måns Wrange, who is an artist and Professor at the Department of Fine Art, WIRE and CuratorLab at Konstfack. The research residents of CuratorLab 07/08 are Christian Alandete (Paris), Esther Lu (Taipei), Elisabeth Byre (Oslo), and Adnan Yildiz (Istanbul). In cooperation with illycaffè, which is also a partner of the Fair in Present Future section, devoted to emerging talent, three young curators from Colombia, Ethiopia and India have been invited to take part in the seminar, thus offering evidence of the new frontiers of contemporary art.
Contemporary arts night: Saturday, 10 November will see the opening of galleries, museums, foundations and uncommon spaces hosting exhibitions and special art events. The streets of Turin will be illuminated by Luci D’artista, artists signed light installations, whilst concerts and performances will occupy the squares of the city. from 9 p.m. until 12 p.m.
ARTISSIMA VOLUME
This year sees the birth of Artissima Volume, an entire section devoted to music curated by Nero Magazine. The venues play a decisive role: each context has been chosen on the basis of musical and acoustic needs but also on logistic, historical and social grounds.
Artissima Volume’s program will take place during three days and in three different locations. For Artissima’s opening, on Thursday 8th, an outstanding artist, Merzbow, one of the greatest exponents of worldwide noise will exhibit in a live set especially conceived for the impressive ramp of Lingotto building. Valerio Tricoli will perform before the concert.
Friday 9th Circolo Esperia will host a special “solo night” with performances by Andrea Belfi, Laura Gibson and V/Vm. Will follow the exclusive dj set of Christian Zingales.
On Saturday 10th as part of contemporary arts night there will be a special evening concert starring Sunny Day Sets Fire and the band Mathew Sawyer & The Ghosts, exhibiting in the historical building Palazzo Madama.
club to club, will close this music review featuring the extraodinary DJ set by Jeff Mills and Troy Pierce.

ARTISSIMA FUMETTO
Artissima Fumcomicsetto is a new satellite project which aims to explore the fascinating world of illustrated comics, wrongly considered a minor art. A solo exhibition devoted to the notorious Italian comic-strips artist Gian Alfonso Pacinotti, also known as GIPI in the artworld, will inaugurate this section.
ARTISSIMA CINEMA
